Book Bridges

$15,000

We partnered with Reading Legacies, awarding $15,000 to introduce their Family Connections program virtually at a South Bay men’s correctional facility to break down barriers between children and their incarcerated family
members through reading. With our vision in mind, Reading Legacies renamed their program Book Bridges because we are providing bridges for families through books. Through this program, these incarcerated men will bridge the gap between their lives while separated from their loved ones. Most importantly, these children will feel loved and feel less scared or confused while their incarcerated family members gain hope and a sense of purpose.

More than a Meal
$5,000

Providing more than a meal, $5,000 was awarded to Meals on Wheels to deliver meals to and ensure the safety of senior residents in the South Bay. Together, we’re breaking down barriers to reduce the risk of malnutrition and senior isolation.

LOU ANN VOGLER GRANTS PROGRAM

Some people dream of success while other people

get up every morning and make it happen.

~ Wayne Huizenga.

Altrusans represent people who wake up every morning and find ways to make things happen. Not only do we find ways to make things happen, but we help others do so as well. In Fall 2020, the Altrusa Club of Chula Vista, Inc. Foundation awarded $20,000 to nonprofit organizations in our local community: Reading Legacies and Meals on Wheels San Diego County.
